Welcome to John Green Week Day Two!
I have this notebook full of quotes. Whenever I hear anything I like, be it from a book, movie, TV show, etc, I write it down in this notebook. Some are funny, some are serious. All have touched some part of me. The beauty held in words will never cease to amaze me. I wanted to share some of my favorite John Green quotes with you all, from both videos and books.
...if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was a hurricane. ~Looking for Alaska
Jesus, I'm not going to be one of those people who sites around talking about what they're going to do. I'm just going to do it. Imagining the future is a kind of nostalgia...You spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking about how you'll escape it one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining that future keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the prison. ~Looking for Alaska
And I wanted to tell her that the pleasure for me wasn't planning or doing or leaving; the pleasure was in seeing our strings cross and separate and then come back together. ~Papertowns
Books are the ultimate Dumpees: put them down and they'll wait for you forever; pay attention to them and they always love you back. ~An Abundance of Katherines
You like someone who can't like you back because unrequited love can be survived in a way that once-requited love cannot. ~Will Grayson, Will Grayson (Admittedly, I haven't read this one yet, but I say this quote on Goodreads and thought it was beautiful.)
What a treacherous thing to believe that a person is more than a person. ~Papertowns
When did we see each other face to face? Not until you saw into my cracks and I saw into yours. Before that, we were just looking at ideas of each other, like looking at your window shade but never seeing inside. But once the vessel cracks, like can get in. The light can get out. ~Papertowns
{This next quote is from a Vlogbrothers video, and John said this statement with such passion. Of course, I can't for the life of me remember which one.}
In the contemporary world where things fall apart and the center cannot hold, you have to imagine a community where there is no center.
True love will triumph in the end - which may or may not be a lie, but if it is a lie, it's the most beautiful lie we have.
{And finally, one that sums everything up.}
Maybe our favorite quotations say more about us than about the stories and people we're quoting.

Great post! There are so, so, so many quotations from his books that I just love! Thanks for being a part of John Green Week!
